Privacy Policy

YardAI is run by Lehmanade LLC ("we", "our", or "us"). We operate the website https://yardai.app/ (the "Service"). This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can delete it. It also explains your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other privacy laws.

2. What Data We Collect

Data you give us

  • Account details. Your name and email address. If you sign up with a password, our sign-in provider (Google Firebase) stores it in a protected, hashed form. We never see it.
  • Sign in with Google. If you use it, Google shares your name, email address and profile photo with us.
  • Yard photos. The photos of your yard that you upload.
  • Property location. The address or area you enter for your yard. If you tap "use my location", your browser asks first. Then it shares your device's location with us.
  • Design choices. The styles, options and notes you pick when you create a design.
  • Messages to us. Anything you send to our support email.

Data we create for you

  • The AI designs, yard plans, plant lists, product and contractor suggestions we generate from your photos.
  • Your plan, credits and subscription status.
  • Records of the AI tasks run for your account and what they cost us. We use these for billing and to keep the Service running.

Data collected automatically

  • Usage data from Google Analytics. See section 8.
  • How you found us, such as the campaign link or first page you visited.
  • Technical logs. Our servers and hosting providers keep basic logs, such as your IP address, browser type, and errors. We use these to keep the Service secure and working.

3. Your Yard Photos

We want to be clear about your photos.

  • What we use them for. We use your photos only to create your designs and yard plans. That includes seasonal versions and product and plant suggestions.
  • Who can see them. Your photos are stored in your private account. Other users can't see them unless you share a design (see below). As the operator, we can technically access the photos you upload and the designs we create. We only look at them when we need to: to answer a support request, fix a problem, or stop misuse of the Service.
  • AI processing. To create a design, we send your photo to the AI providers listed in section 6.
  • What we don't do. We don't use your photos to train AI models. We don't use them in our marketing. We don't sell them.
  • Shared designs. If you share a design, anyone with the link can see your original photo and the designs. You can't turn sharing off in the app yet. Email us and we will turn it off. Deleting your account also stops the link working.

  • To run YardAI and create your designs and plans
  • To create and manage your account
  • To take payments and manage subscriptions
  • To send account emails, such as email verification and password resets
  • To understand how people use the site and make it better
  • To keep the Service secure and stop misuse

5. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)

Under GDPR, we rely on these legal bases:

  • Contract – we need your data to provide the Service you signed up for
  • Legitimate interests – to improve the Service, keep it secure, and understand how it's used
  • Consent – for example, when you let your browser share your location
  • Legal obligation – where the law requires it, such as keeping tax records

6. Who We Share Data With

We use trusted service providers ("processors") to run YardAI. They only get the data they need to do their job. We do not sell your personal information.

AI processing

  • OpenAI – looks at your yard photo, writes instructions for the image model, and writes your yard plan. It also searches the web for products and local contractors, using your city and state (not your street address). Privacy policy
  • Kie.ai – receives your yard photo and creates the design images, using Google's Gemini image model. Privacy policy
  • Replicate – creates design images in our older "classic" generator. Only some long-time accounts can use it. Privacy policy

Storage, sign-in and hosting

  • Google Firebase (Google Cloud) – stores your account, photos and designs, runs our servers, handles sign-in (including Sign in with Google), and sends account emails. Privacy information
  • Netlify – hosts the website. Privacy policy

Location, map and yard data

We send your property's address or map coordinates (not your photos or name) to these services to tailor your plan:

  • OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) – looks up addresses. Privacy policy
  • OpenWeather – provides local weather history. Privacy policy
  • ISRIC SoilGrids – provides local soil data.
  • phzmapi.org – finds your USDA plant hardiness zone.

Payments and analytics

  • Stripe – handles payments. See section 7. Privacy policy
  • Google Analytics – measures how the site is used. See section 8. Privacy policy

We may also share data if the law requires it, or if YardAI is sold or merged with another business.

7. Payments

Stripe handles all payments. When you pay, you enter your card details on Stripe's checkout page and they go straight to Stripe.

We never see or store your full card number. We only receive what we need to manage your subscription, such as a Stripe customer ID and your payment status.

8. Cookies & Analytics

YardAI uses cookies and similar browser storage.

  • Essential storage. We use your browser's storage to keep you signed in and remember your progress. The site doesn't work without it.
  • Google Analytics cookies. Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) to count visits and see how people use the site. It records things like pages viewed, buttons clicked, device and browser type, your approximate location (from your IP address), and how you found us. When you're signed in, we link this data to your account ID and plan type (free or paid) so we can see how people use features. We don't send your name or email to Google Analytics.
  • Third-party cookies. Stripe may set cookies on its checkout page to prevent fraud.

9. Deleting Your Data

Delete your whole account

Go to your Account page and choose "Delete my account". This happens right away and can't be undone. It:

  • Cancels any active subscription
  • Permanently deletes all your uploaded photos and generated designs from our storage
  • Deletes your account record, saved properties, designs, plans, product and contractor suggestions, and AI usage records
  • Deletes your sign-in account
  • Stops any shared design links from working

Delete a single photo or design

You can't do this in the app yet. Email us at yardaiapp@gmail.com and tell us which design. We will delete the photo and its designs within 30 days.

What may remain for a while

  • Cloud recovery systems. Deleted files and records may stay in Google Cloud's recovery and backup systems for up to 30 days before they are gone for good.
  • Server logs. Logs that include your account ID are kept for about 30 days.
  • OpenAI may keep data we send it for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse. It does not use it to train its models.
  • Kie.ai deletes uploaded photos 24 hours after upload. Generated images may stay on its servers for a short time before they are deleted.
  • Replicate deletes inputs and outputs about one hour after a design is made.
  • Stripe keeps payment and invoice records, as required for tax and accounting.
  • Google Analytics keeps usage data for up to 14 months.

How long we keep data otherwise

We keep your account, photos and designs until you delete them or your account. We may keep some records longer if the law requires it.

10. Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are in the European Union, the UK, or a place with similar laws, you have these rights:

  • Right of access – know what data we have about you
  • Right to rectification – correct inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure – ask us to delete your data
  • Right to restrict processing
  • Right to object – including to analytics based on legitimate interests
  • Right to data portability
  • Right to withdraw consent at any time
  • Right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority

11. U.S. State Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live in the U.S., you can ask to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. Email us to make a request. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. We do not sell your personal information.

12. International Data Transfers

We are based in the United States, and most of our providers process data in the U.S. If you are outside the U.S., your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

When required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to protect your data.

13. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data, including:

  • Secure sign-in through Google Firebase
  • Access rules that stop other users from opening your photos and designs
  • Encrypted connections (HTTPS)
  • Payments handled by Stripe
  • Limited access to personal data

No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your data.

14. Children's Privacy

YardAI is not meant for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the "Last updated" date.
